Guest Speaker: Melanie Janisse!
Cooper's Hawk Vineyards™ is an estate winery located on 67 acres of land in the Lake Erie North Shore viticulture region. The name was chosen from one of the many birds of prey that frequent the 5 acres of Green Space surrounding the vineyards. The logo symbolizes their commitment to the environment.

Melanie Janisse is a native of Windsor, Ontario. She holds degrees Communications from Concordia University and Visual Arts from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and an MFA from OCAD U. She was the owner of a popular vintage clothing store in Kensington Market, and owned a busy cafe in Toronto's west end. Both Melanie's Closet and Zoots Cafe were voted best of in Now Magazine . Orioles in the Oranges (Guernica Editions) was Melanie's first collection of poetry, she has just recently released The Scrim Poems - a chap book of poems with Flat Singles Press. She has a third book in the works and will soon be announcing its release. She owned and operated a commercial building on Dundas West, which taught her practical renovation, bookkeeping, and management skills. Melanie has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. This shows in the diversity of her accomplishments. Currently, Melanie has returned to Windsor, Ontario to set up a painting practice. Now in the second floor of the Capitol Theatre, she has become a popular portrait painter and is now booked until the new year for commissions.
Melanie will be covering topics that range from seeking out opportunity, to intuitive business upstart, the spirituality of entrepreneurship, the difficulties and challenges of small business ownership, and the balance between creativity and practicality in business.
